Brown Goshawk

Brown Goshawk

Our friends’ property which includes woodland and farmland had a bird list of 77 species. They suggested that I walked down the garden to a good spot to see birds and and some 15 minutes later, I managed to see and photograph this Brown Goshawk having heard its plaintive call. When I first showed them the photo, we weren’t sure of the identity of the bird but they knew that it was species number 78!  After our departure a few days later, they discovered a second bird in the area and they subsequently wrote to say that they had found a nest with 2 or 3 juveniles.
