Cricket

This remarkable creature posed alongside a track in an area of farm bush. I assume that it is some form of cricket or grasshopper but I have more work to do to find its identity. My ten year old grandson asked a good question “why hasn’t it become extinct?” thinking that its bright colours would attract predators. Childrens’ questions are not always easy to answer but in this case, perhaps the bright colours also serve as a warning to predators.
