The number of animals crossing the roads of Bruny Island at night was remarkable. Sadly, many people drive too fast and hit them. We found a Bennett’s Wallaby which was struggling to cross the road after it had been hit by a passing vehicle. The only thing to do was to wrap it up, put it in the back of the vehicle and take it back for food and drink. It didn’t survive the night unfortunately. This light phase Eastern Quoll was near the ferry terminal. With its dark phase cousin, it darted into the road and back again several times.
