South Norwood Country Park is one of my favourite bird watching areas locally. It was a sewage farm some twenty or so years back and was saved from development by an enterprising member of staff in the Croydon Council offices. It has a variety of habitats including streams, a large lake, grassland, wetland and scrub bordered by two tram lines, a main road and Beckenham Cemetery. On this occasion, we were delighted to see and photograph a flock of Siskins feeding in the alder trees alongside the lake.
