Eurasian Treecreeper is an extremely difficult bird to photograph so the coniferous forests around Zermatt provided an opportunity to get to grips with this species. Although it will come reasonably close and does not seem to worry too much about the presence of people, other factors are also important. One is that the bird moves continuously and is often around the opposite of a tree trunk and another is the combination of strong light and shade in the forest. A further difficulty is separating Treecreeper and Short-toed Treecreeper in areas where the ranges overlap. In this case, the main indicator for Treecreeper is the notch in the wing bar coupled to a lesser extent with the pronounced white supercilium and very pale underparts.
