Our journey from Tabin to Bilit included a stop at the remarkable Gomontong Caves. Four species of Swiftlet nest in the caves including the Edible-nest Swiftlet. These Swiftlet species can only be separated reliably by seeing the birds on their nests inside the dark caves. The local people have a contract to harvest the white nests of the Edible-nest Swiftlet, a dangerous job which requires them to climb ropes inside the caves.
