A slippery wooden walkway allows one to walk around the perimeter wall of the cave. In addition to the birds, the caves are home to bats and a huge variety of spiders and insect life, much of which is endemic to the cave system made famous by a David Attenborough film. If you slip on the walkway, it is necessary to grab a rickety handrail which is covered in all manner of life forms. A more unpleasant alternative would be to slide off the walkway in the dark into the metre or more of accumulated bat droppings. This could be described as a dream location for a biologist or a vision of hell for the majority of mankind.
