After a long drive the previous day from the north to the south of Tasmania, including catching the ferry to Bruny Island, we arrived at the cottage which we had rented for three nights. We awoke this morning to find that it was freezing cold, pouring with rain, with almost 100% cloud cover and a high wind. The beautiful song of the Grey Shrikethrush in the cottage garden lifted our spirits somewhat. Our guide arrived to tell us that she had just heard that our flight to Melaleuca would take place so we set off at once to drive to the grass airstrip.
