Grey Whales migrate southwards in the Autumn to their breeding grounds around Baja California returning to the northern Pacific Ocean in the Spring. They can grow to over 45 feet in length with males weighing up to 16 tons and pregnant females over 30 tons. So much of the animal is under water that photography is a major problem. Occasionally one gets a distant glimpse of the tail.
