“Just leave the road at the forest and you’ll soon find the nest site of a pair of Krüper’s Nuthatch”, they said. Unfortunately, they failed to mention in which of the 10,000 plus trees the said Nuthatch would be found. A coach party was about to depart but it turned out to be full of botanists so they had no idea what I was talking about. Eventually, a local strolling through the forest with his dog pointed us in the right direction and after a short wait, the Nuthatch duly appeared looking somewhat feather worn.
