Magpie Shrike

Magpie Shrike

We came across a large party of Magpie Shrikes looking for food on the ground. These birds are variously called Magpie Shrikes as a result of their similarity with the well-known Palearctic Magpie or sometimes Long-tailed Shrikes because of their long tails. From a photographic point of view, both species are hard to photograph well as it is difficult to get the correct white balance for a black and white bird especially when it is in bright sunlight.
