Mountain Owlet-Nightjar

The flight to the Tari Valley was smooth and on the plane, I sat next to a local who had been educated at Norwich University in the UK. We arrived at Makara Lodge high up in the hills at around 13:30. The following morning, we travelled even higher up the mountain and walked on a narrow muddy trail into the forest. It was disappointing to find that the some of the forest had been cut for firewood. These Owlet-Nightjars (there are two birds in the nest hole) are members of a small Australasian family of birds. On the way back to the main road, I fell over in the mud and used my camera to stop me sliding further. Remarkably, apart from being covered in mud, the camera continued to operate successfully.
