Orange-cheeked Waxbill adult

Orange-cheeked Waxbill adult

A small party of these seed eating birds was feeding on the track in the early morning. The habitat was farm bush which attracts a surprisingly wide variety of species. They tend to fly into the nearest bushes if one approaches too closely so I photographed this adult from a distance of about ten metres. This species is fairly common in west and west-central Africa.
