Rafflesia

Rafflesia

Later that day, we heard that a Rafflesia was in flower near Poring Hot Springs so we set off down the mountain to try and see the plant. After paying an entry fee to the landowner, we soon found and were able to photograph the flower in full bloom. This is the world’s largest flower, the plant having no stem, leaves or root, and gaining its nutrients by parasitizing a forest liana.
