Rüppell’s Warbler adult male

Rüppell’s Warbler adult male

I was told by some birders that on the north side of the island and some forty minutes drive from our hotel, a male Rüppell’s Warbler had been seen singing but only up to 10:00 in the morning. This necessitated an early start which was clearly going to be difficult as we had not returned from the previous night’s outing also in the north of the island until midnight. It was a bird that I had never seen before let alone photographed so we had to get there in good time. Remarkably, after a wait of ten minutes or so, the bird flew onto a nearby branch and sang. I wish they were all as easy as this!
