Our visit to Tasmania began with a short flight from Melbourne to the northern town of Devonport. We stayed with friends who have a beautiful property in the country and who ensured that we learnt much about Tasmania and its wildlife. This widespread Australian species was nesting in a hole along the roadside and was photographed in bright sunlight during one of its frequent feeding expeditions.
