Strong-billed Honeyeater adult

Strong-billed Honeyeater is a Tasmanian endemic that fills an ecological niche which exists because of the absence of Treecreepers in Tasmania. Its bill and body size are larger than other Honeyeaters in its genus and this allows it to probe for insects in the bark of trees. It appears to have little interest in nectar.
