This is the only Yellow-eared Spiderhunter Arachnothera chrysogenys which we saw the whole time we were in Thailand. It was at some distance but the photo shows the main features of this species which are the yellow eye ring and the drooping ear patch.

It has a breeding range of some 4 million km2 and can be found in Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra and Borneo. Kaeng Krachan National Park is at the northern edge of the range for this species in Thailand.

The natural habitat of Yellow-eared Spiderhunter is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
