This Common Green Magpie was very tame and came to within a few metres of the camera in the early morning light. The location was the centre of the town at Fraser’s Hill, Malaysia, formerly a hill station and a place to get away from the intense heat of the lowland areas of the country. We had originally identified this bird as Indochinese Green Magpie but as far as I know, this species is not recorded in Malaysia. Common Green Magpie is a much more widespread Asian species which has a range which includes Malaysia. In addition, the bright yellow cap of the Common Green Magpie is not found on the Indochinese species.
