Long-toed Lapwing adult

Long-toed Lapwing adult

Long-toed Lapwing has a patchy distribution in central Africa as a result of its specialised habitat requirements. It is found in floating vegetation on lakes, ponds and swamps. It can also be seen in short grass near water as is the case with this single bird along the edge of Lake Ihema. Source: Birds of Africa Vol II, pp 279-280.
