White-crested Laughingthrush

White-crested Laughingthrush Garrulax leucolophus tends to behave differently however and on the few occasions that I have seen this species, it seems to like more open habitats including human sites. On this day, a family party of eight birds gave good views in a garden at the edge of the forest.

We heard several species of Laughingthrush in Thailand but in general, they were difficult to see even though some birds called for several minutes at a distance of a few metres in dense forest.

White-crested Laughingthrush is a very attractive species which is found from the Himalayan foothills through to much of south east Asia.
