Willie Wagtail

Willie Wagtail

One of the most common birds in Papua New Guinea as indeed it is in Australia is Willie Wagtail. Despite its name, it is a member of the fantail and not the wagtail family of birds. It was the first bird that I had heard in Papua New Guinea calling in the car park outside my hotel room at 04:00 on my first morning. It was also the last bird which I photographed and therefore this is an appropriate picture with which to end this collection.
