Common Redshank

Common Redshank

Common Redshank is one of the more common waders along the coasts of south-east England. Today there were several large flocks feeding along the muddy edges of the River Swale when the water levels dropped. This Common Redshank came close to where I was positioned on a damp embankment. It looks rather drab in its winter plumage and its feet are covered in the slimy mud.
