Several Ashy Woodswallow Artamus fuscus aka Ashy Swallow-Shrike were seen each day from the 5th – 10th December and it is the only Woodswallow which is found in the areas of Thailand in which we travelled. Most of the birds were perched in groups in distant trees or seen in flight but this one was perched conveniently on a cable near the road.
Ashy Woodswallow has grey upper parts and head, pinkish buff under parts and a short slaty black tail with a large bluish bill. In flight the long wing looks very broad at the base giving it a triangular outline.
