Black-cheeked Lovebird

Black-cheeked Lovebird

It took several hours of searching to find Black-cheeked Lovebird, our target species for today. We finally found a small group of five birds perched in thick branches of a thorn tree. Photography was difficulty both in terms of getting an uninterrupted view of a bird and because they were against the light. This species has a very limited range in Southern Zambia. It is to all intents and purposes a Zambian endemic although a population of escaped cage birds is thought to exist on the Zimbabwe side of the Victoria Falls.
