Whiskered Tern Chlidonias hybrida was very common in the Pak Thale and Laenpak Bia areas with overall 150 individual sightings. It is a widespread species with a range which includes Europe, much of sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Australia, a total of over 125 million square kilometres where it breeds or is resident.

The preferred habitats of Whiskered Tern are wetlands and marshes but it requires floating vegetation to breed.
