Australasian Grebe in breeding plumage

On the return journey to Melbourne, we saw a sign to the Mathoma Wildlife Reserve so we decided to investigate. The large area has a variety of habitats including reedbeds, lakes, grasslands and woodland and has boardwalks and a large hide. This Grebe was one of a pair in front of the hide.
