Great Northern Diver non-breeding

I am generally very happy to use the English names of the IOC world list of birds but I am unable to call a Great Northern Diver, one of the world’s most magnificent birds, by its North American name of Common Loon. The IOC has moved forward slightly and now refer to it as Great Northern Loon but that still doesn’t do it justice.
