River at Kiunga

Kiunga is some 200 to 250 miles along the Fly River from the south coast of Papua New Guinea. The river is still extremely wide at this point which allows reasonably large cargo boats to navigate as far as Kiunga. I believe that most of the goods carried in both directions relate to the mining operations at Tabubil. The river is also the reason why we made some remarkable bird sightings over the next 2 days.
