The preferred habitat of Woodlark is pine forest and sandy soil which is found throughout the Ashdown Forest. Unusually for Larks, they often perch on wires and that is a good place to look to try and find a small party of these birds. I found six birds on a wire before finding a further two on a sandy patch of the track.
