This female Common Linnet was photographed at over 2,600 metres above sea level. The bird was standing on rocky terrain at some distance and I took a few record shots assuming at the time that it would be a Northern Wheatear. It was later when I was processing the image that I discovered it to be a female Common Linnet. Further investigations indicate that Common Linnet can be found in alpine meadows and rocky hillsides but this sighting may be above its normal altitude range. Source: BirdLife
