After taking several photographs of the Kingfisher at fairly close range (it was probably the closest that one can get to a Kingfisher without being in a bird hide), the sun came out. This created light and dark patches on the bird which possibly makes for a less appealing photo. Soon after taking this photo, the Kingfisher flew a few feet to another branch and then continued to fly down the lower lake towards the centre of Beckenham and out of view. It had been an exciting and remarkable 15 minutes.
