Sighting
Our guide in the Caroni Swamp told us that the name of this snake was Cook’s Tree Boa Corallus cookii. However this snake is found only on the island of St Vincent unless it has been introduced to Trinidad.
A further possibility is Corallus hortulanus which has several English names including Amazon Tree Boa, Macabrel, Cook’s Tree Boa, Common Tree Boa and Garden Tree Boa. Corallus hortulanus is a non-venomous boa species found in South America so perhaps it is this species. Any help with the identification would be welcome.
