Green Woodpeckers are widespread birds in Britain and can often be heard calling if not always seen but are surprisingly difficult to photograph. They frequent gardens and parks feeding mainly on the ground. This bird visited my neighbour’s garden where it was able to find a good supply of insects and ants in the cracks in her drive.
