Today, we visited the Banda Forest which involved taking a 4 x 4 in order to negotiate the steep downward track. Someone had claimed to have seen a Shelley’s Crimsonwing from this area a few days previously. As this species is virtually never seen, let alone photographed, it seemed like a good opportunity. We spent several hours on the track through the forest but to no avail. It did not stop us finding more montane forest endemics such as this handsome male Strange Weaver.
