Butare was an excellent place to stop on the journey from Kigali to Nyungwe. There were plenty of shops and a good place for lunch coupled with some birding around the Butare museum. Red-cheek Cordon-bleu is widespread in east Africa and this male bird posed for the photo ensuring that its red cheeks were seen well.
