African Emerald Cuckoo adult male

After a 04:00 start, we were delighted when this beautiful bird landed very close to the rope walkway in the Kakum National Park. We had special permission to enter the park before the normal opening time so all was quiet. The bird spent twenty minutes or so in a tree at eye level just a few metres away preening its feathers and catching the occasional caterpillar.
