Blue Wildebeest

Animals are shot by trophy hunters in this area which perhaps explains why the Blue Wildebeest were concerned by our presence. Trophy hunters pay large sums of money for the privilege of killing an animal, the fee relating to its magnificence and rarity. The hunter takes the skins and head of the dead animal for display at home and the rest is cut up for meat to be sold locally. The high fees associated with this activity are used to support local people by providing education and health facilities.
