Chinese Egret

A Chinese Egret Egretta eulophotes posing at the edge of the mangroves along a river. The photo was taken from a moving boat. The bird has several of the features of a non-breeding adult including a dull yellowish basal two-thirds of the lower mandible and greenish legs. However, it has an obvious nuchal crest so perhaps it is already coming into breeding plumage.
