Common Gull (also known as Mew Gull ) is a regular winter visitor to Kelsey Park, Beckenham and there are often two or three together on the lake. Common Gull is larger than the more abundant Black-headed Gull and is often seen chasing them around Heron Island. This Common Gull is a first winter bird which is indicated by the brown patterned wings. In flight, an adult Common Gull might be mistaken for a Herring Gull but the latter species is a much larger bird with a white eye and a more fierce appearance.
