Common Wombat

Common Wombat is one of only three species of Wombat, all of which are found in Australia. There are three subspecies of Common Wombat including V. u. tasmaniensis which is found in Tasmania. This large animal walked quickly across grassland and came very close to us. It didn’t appear to be disturbed by our presence and continued to walk past us and straight across a main road. Fortunately, no vehicles were in view.
