Croaking Cisticola

Croaking Cisticola

We moved through a more rocky habitat with a few scattered trees and bushes and after about two hours, the vehicle stopped in the shade of a large tree and we were met by another guide. We put on our rubber boots and headed on foot through damper areas. We reached some houses built of reeds at the edge of the swamp and having become acquainted with the local children, walked into deep water. Our guide led us through a narrow channel cut in the papyrus swamps. I found it difficult to keep my balance as the mud was very uneven and I stepped on lots of cut papyrus, invisible in the dark waters of the swamp. After about forty minutes in the deep water, the channel opened out to a small clearing in the reeds.
