Eurasian Jay was relatively common in the coniferous forests between 1,600 and 2,300 metres above sea level. For such a large bird, it is very wary and will fly away as soon as it detects movement. This bird visited the area of the feeders at about hourly intervals in order to find food which had been left on the ground. I finally managed to take a photograph at a time late in the day when most visitors had left the area. The colours look very cold compared with the warm colours of the Eurasian Jay which we see in the UK and this may have been as a result of the very low light levels in the forest in the late afternoon.
