There were many sightings of European Pied Flycatcher in the Zermatt area. Most were feeding along the river in the same areas as Black Redstarts and White Wagtails but they were also seen in bushes higher up the hillsides. The habitat doesn’t seen right for breeding so perhaps they were migrating across the Alps. All the birds which I saw looked like females but it is possible some were males in non-breeding plumage or even young birds.
