This bird was roosting in Rosebay Willowherb Epilobium angustifolium, an extremely common plant around Zermatt. At this time of year, the silky hairs of its seeds could be seen blowing across the Alps. I have identified the bird as a juvenile male House Sparrow on the basis of the black feathers forming on the throat.
