This Northern Wheatear was perched on a distant rock near the beautiful little church at Findeln. I tried to photograph it but the distance was too great and the bird had flown anyway. What great luck when I found that it had flown to a rock by the side of the track and only a couple of metres from where I was standing. There are few species at the higher alpine altitudes but Northern Wheatear is one of the most common.
