We left our Kigali hotel at 06:30 for the journey to Akagera and at 07:30, we had arrived at a wonderful birding spot, a papyrus marsh. There are six papyrus endemic bird species in east Africa and they are generally difficult to find but Papyrus Gonolek gave us superb close views.
