Red-faced Barbet

Red-faced Barbet

Red-faced Barbet has a very narrow range in east Africa and is one of the main target species at Akagera. We had little time left to see this species and drove to the campsite at Miyumba in order to try and find it. After perhaps an hour of searching and close to the time when our transport was leaving to take us back to Kigali, we found two birds sitting quietly in a tree alongside a small pond.
