White Wagtail is a common species along the river, with cold water from the mountains, which flows through Zermatt. The lack of a dark breast band indicates this bird is a juvenile and is much paler than the subspecies Pied Wagtail found in Britain. The combination of the colour of the bird, the rocks and the water in the bright afternoon light makes this look like a black and white photograph.
